fave game series of all time has GOT to be pokemon mystery dungeon, namely explorers of sky. that series had SUCH an impact on me as a kid and continues to fill me with nostalgia every time i hear its music. time gear and i dont want to say goodbye especially. the leitmotifs are incredible imo and Arata Iiyoshi delivers. of course the gen 4 sound font is my all time favorite in the series and lucario is in it (it lets you play as a riolu!), but also the dialogue and story are so good, esp for a pokemon game. the introduction of the sky jukebox meant i could put my ds next to me and sleep to the soundtrack every night, and the special episodes that lets you play as various characters like grovyle and guildmaster wigglytuff were an amazing addition that im surprised and disappointed were never implemented again. i guess every game has its gimmicks, right?
only a mystery dungeon game can make you love a terribly underrated and universally disliked pokemon you would otherwise despise. i hated bidoof until pmd! hes such a lovable oaf, and his special episode just makes me love him even more. i seriously recommend playing it for yourself if you havent already. i managed to get a phys copy for only $15 before the price fucking skyrocketed but also its remarkably easy to hack your ds!

DARK SOULS 2, GOOD GOD!
I remember the map of DS1 like the back of my hand (I can tell you the best ways to get to any point on the map, if you want safety, speed, or a mix of both) but Dark Souls 2 just did so much interesting stuff with it. Powerstancing was cooler in that than ER, the NG+ cycles were more interesting, and the story has more weight to it despite it not being as large a scale in lore. I could go on a whole rant about all these parts but yeh. Dark Souls 2...

the story is fascinating in the metanarrative of the series, I have a lot of spoilery things I could say about it. also, I still think it has the beast healing system (slow estus so you only use it when safe + fast regen item). it's a bizarre game in places but it's my favourite of the series
gotta brag, I remember being invaded by three people simultaneously at the bell tower, and they decided to duel me one by one. I won.
